Select a claim

Highlight the passage you want to investigate in Google Docs, then open MCP Bro from the Extensions menu.

Find and assess sources

Choose Find Sources. Review authors, dates and available publication details, then open the original source.

Insert the reference

Choose an in-text citation or Footnote. Check the reference and whether the source actually supports your claim.

You choose the text to send

When you start a source search, the selected text is sent to MCP Bro and its model provider to generate searches and rank results. Search terms are sent to source services. The whole document is not sent as part of this search.

The add-on reads the selection and writes your citation in the document. Native footnotes use the Google Docs API and require document access in Google’s consent flow.

Help and support

Select text before searching. Sign in again if your session expires. If insertion fails, place the cursor in a normal text paragraph and retry. If an empty footnote was already created, remove it before retrying.

References use the metadata available from each source. Missing authors, dates or journals may need to be completed. AI can suggest irrelevant sources; read the original before citing it.
